“Though the fig tree should not blossom
And there be no fruit on the vines,
Though the yield of the olive should fail
And the fields produce no food,
Though the flock should be cut off from the fold
And there be no cattle in the stalls,
Yet I will exult in the Lord,
I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.
The Lord God is my strength,
And He has made my feet like hinds’ feet,
And makes me walk on my high places (Habakkuk 3:17-19).

Dear Kerugma Supporter,

At the end of last year the wife of a farmer in North West told us that her husband does not want to go out to the fields any longer, because every time he goes there, the cattle follow him, as if they expect him to feed them. He cannot handle it any longer. After we mentioned in our previous Bulletin about the cameras we needed to buy, we received a donation from this farmer. It touched me that someone, finding himself in the midst of such a long and crippling drought and with continued prospects of no rain, could still contribute to the work of the Lord. While I was talking to the Lord about this, I was reminded of the well-known words of the prophet Habakkuk above. Yes, in spite of no relief, “Yet I will exult in the Lord, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.” Another person sent us a wonderful donation and explained that it is money that she saved through the year to buy her children’s Christmas gifts. When she saw that we needed the cameras, she decided that her children do not need anything. They could go without the gifts, but the Lord’s work needs to be done. Well, for us these gifts were such an encouragement – gifts really needed and appreciated.

We were also encouraged by many people who informed us that they were praying for us. Some wanted to know if we had ordered the cameras, in time to film the Berean Call Conference from 17 – 20 January. Others who called for other reasons, also enquired about the cameras. Well, the amount that we have received for cameras up to now is about 10% of the total that we need. However, being eager to film this conference, we tried to order the cameras, but it just did not work out. For each of our needs over the years, the Lord has always provided in a unique way. When our effort to obtain the cameras in time did not work out, we were led to rather wait on the Lord’s further guidance and faithful provision of the necessary amount for the cameras. Although we did not understand it then, we told the organisers a week before the conference, that we would not be in a position to do the filming of it. It was indeed good to attend the conference, but unfortunately there will not be DVDs of the conference available.

We do apologise for any disappointment caused, but know that it had been very difficult for us too. But it was as if the Lord showed us through this that although there may be many wonderful things to do in His kingdom, we are to rest in the fact that all is done in His time and according to His will. Habakkuk encourages us when situations overwhelm us. He says, “The Lord God is my strength, And He has made my feet like hinds’ feet, And makes me walk on my high places.” Referring to Isaiah 52:7, Paul also used this image of “hinds’ feet” in Habakkuk, when he described in Romans 10:15 how people, receiving the message of the gospel, view the presenters of the message: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!” It refers to the Ibex buck in Israel, finding their way in the mountains of Israel, jumping light of foot over rough terrain. You are able to see these buck in The DVDs by dr Randall Smith, The Call Of Moses and The Salt Covenant. Isaiah 52:7 says: "How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who announces peace and brings good news of happiness, who announces salvation." Habakkuk says that no matter how dark our situation seems to be, the Lord Himself is our strength and He enables us to proclaim His Word with the agility and lightness of foot of the Ibex on the mountainous terrain. This is how we proclaim the MESSAGE above all messages, the good news of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ among this “crooked generation”.

The farmer that I referred to encouraged me so much when he told me that the unsaved farmers that he talks to, cannot understand how he manages not to curse and to complain in these disheartening circumstances. Not that he does not also have good reason to be despondent, but his hope is in the Lord, and that makes all the difference.

Therefore, if we lack the necessary finances that we believe we need to proclaim the gospel, and although we cannot see a way through at this point, we keep our eyes on the One Who has led us and provided for us. Therefore, although the scientists say that El Nino will keep the rain away, we pray with even more determination expecting the Lord Himself to give the rain. Romans 8:19 says, “For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God”. We can therefore with boldness pray and trust the Creator for the needs of His people and of creation. And if the Lord still does not give the rain, we as His children, have the opportunity to handle our daily lives differently from the unbelievers, in that our lives will demonstrate and through our words and deeds will be an encouragement to others, as we live by faith and not sight and like Job are able to say with confidence, “I know that my Redeemer lives!” That we obey our Lord when He encourages us to “Pray without ceasing” to our loving heavenly Father for all things. That for our love of our Lord Jesus and for our fellow man, that we, despite our circumstances, practise our belief with joy and so be “a living letter read of all men”, for the sake of the gospel. And all this, with the agility and lightness of foot as the Ibex!

Concerning the cameras, it became clear to Marina and myself that the Lord showed us through this disappointment that he rather wants us to concentrate on the next series that we have to present to SABC. And we will continue to trust Him to “supply our every need” for the cameras as well as the next tour. We will appreciate it if you will intercede for us in this regard.

We know how beneficial it is if you pray with us. The next two cases are examples of marvellous answer to the prayers of the Kerugma supporters through the years.

We at Kerugma Productions, as well as the personnel of SABC 2, received a wonderful response to the broadcasting of the Exploring The Lands Of The Bible series presented by Dr Randall Smith, during April and May 2015. We honor and praise the Lord Jesus Christ for this. We would like to share some of the correspondence that we received from SABC 2, with you.

All honour and glory to the Lord for the reaction of the program coordinator of RELIGION at SABC 2. She actually paused her viewing of one of the DVDs to write the following letter to Kerugma:

I have stopped this DVD now to write and say how absolutely privileged I am to be in this position to view these programmes! And this is supposed to be work? I am riveted to the screen, learning by the moment and enjoying them so very much. The additions of the many visuals you have added has really made the difference from a television point of view – believe me, I know the extra work it has entailed, but it has really added that final touch to remarkable teaching. As a straight learning tool, Dr Smith on his own is great for those who are dedicated enough to buy the DVDs for that purpose, but for the wider, sometimes unexpected audience, the extra visuals are the catcher to retain the viewer.

Thank you SO very much indeed for giving the SABC the opportunity to broadcast these. The channel may feel it is not ‘documentary’ enough, but ... there will be people out there who might otherwise never have the opportunity to learn or hear such valuable information and teaching, and your ‘tithing’ of your time, gifts, finances and efforts will benefit people you may never know about, but God will.

I am truly privileged.

The series of six episodes was broadcast for the first time during August to September 2014 and then again during April to May 2015. After the second broadcast last year, Marina wrote to the program coordinator:

Thank you so much for broadcasting the Exploring The Lands Of The Bible series again. I do not know what the reason for it is, but we received an even much better response from SABC 2’s viewers than during the previous broadcast. At that stage we were really overwhelmed with the response; therefore I do not know how to describe the response this time. All of it was from viewers who saw it for the first time. It is just as if the whole country was aware of the series – and had been watching with anticipation. So many called and asked for counseling while others requested information about the series and the DVDs. Everybody expressed their gratitude that the series had been broadcast.

Her reaction was:

I have to add that I too, have had great feedback from many more people this year than before, including from various colleagues. This series has been extremely well received.

She also forwarded this reaction to some of her colleagues, amongst others, the head of SABC 2, Mrs. Jacqui Hlongwane, from whom we received the following response:

That’s great feedback. It’s heart- warming to know that our content really does touch the lives of people in a deep and significant way.

Isn’t this answer to our prayers absolutely wonderful? You may remember that we asked you to pray because the concern was raised at SABC 2 that the broadcasting of this series would have a negative impact on the viewer numbers of SABC 2. Now the exact opposite has happened. We can only praise the Name of Christ Jesus our Lord. Please continue to pray that programmes with pure Christian content will be broadcast and that the Lord will open the door for more of the Exploring series to be aired in future.

The program coordinator also referred to the fact that Kerugma offered the series free of charge to SABC 2:

Thank you for agreeing to Free License this production. It has been valuable to so many.

We would like to make use of this opportunity to thank you all from our hearts for praying faithfully, as well as for every one of you who were able to support us financially through all these years. Thank you so much. May the Lord, bless you. Without our generous support, none of this would have been possible. Thank you for your faith in us. Work for Him will bear fruit now and for eternity, when all will be revealed. And the reward is in God’s hands.

We trust that you are able to see why we are concentrating on and working towards visiting the Bible countries again as soon as possible and towards the completion of our task. There is so much that still needs to be done. When we ask you to support this ministry, we are not asking anything for ourselves. Since the start of this ministry we have lived without salary or income. But the Lord had abundantly provided so that both our sons could finish their university studies and our daughter is currently busy in her final year of veterinary studies at Onderstepoort. This is just a testimony of the Lord’s provision over these many years. We would actually like to tell you the full story one day. When you resign as a minister, you lose everything, including your house, car allowance, salary, pension, yes, everything. Yet again, the Lord graciously provided for us to produce programmes, which were subsequently presented by the national television broadcaster, which would not normally have aired programmes with pure Christian content or such material presented by a church, for that matter.

All that the Lord asks from us is obedience to His voice. Please continue praying for us.

We thank the Lord and praise His wonderful name. For those who do not know, on the 20th of November 2013, I suffered a severe heart attack. You can read my testimony regarding this and the chance that the Lord gave me to complete His work, on our website.
uring my annual check-up a while ago, the cardiologist happened to express his satisfaction about my physical condition and urged me to continue unaltered with the diet and the regular exercise program, I am following. I must say that at my age I am fitter today than ever before in my life. Thus I am looking up to the Lord for His daily enablement and strength to accomplish that which He still wants me to do. Our move to Pearly Beach seems to benefit us in this regard too, because our ten month old rough collie (‘Lassie’) takes us on a regular walk each morning to the beach and every evening for an additional few kilometres down the beach, while he enjoys chasing after the seagulls in their tempting of him to race. Thank you for your interest in my health, your prayers and comfort. I do appreciate it very much.

We trust that the above testimonies will also be an encouragement to you.

May the Lord bless you,

Naas and Marina le Roux

* That the Lord will enable us to continue filming and editing the Exploring series expounding the background of the Bible.
* For the outstanding amount to cover the cost of the new cameras.
* For finances to film the Israel tour and maybe also the Italy tour in 2016.
* For an edit system for Marina.
* That more programmes with pure Christian content will be broadcast by our national broadcaster, including more of the Exploring series.
* Distribution and marketing – that the DVDs will get into each and every home in our country – and also distributed to “the utmost ends of the earth”.
* Thank the Lord for rain that has fallen in certain areas of our country and further, to petition in faith for rain to fall in drought-ridden areas, for all farmers and especially those who proclaim their faith in Jesus our Lord and in the face of such trying circumstances.
